I’ve made a lot of bags. Usually about 2/3 of the way through I am cussing like a teenager and swearing to NEVER make another bag. This one was no exception… I think maybe bags just aren’t my bag, but I persevered and it’s finished! This is the Park West Bag from Sew Sweetness in prints from my new fabric line, Summer Lovin’ (that is my pattern Equal Rights in the background).
I love how big this bag is and the handles are long enough to wear on your shoulder. Here is a pic of the side pockets.
So often I’m working on secret sewing projects that I can’t share with you, but I can finally share this one! This is the new Block of the Month for Make Modern Magazine. Make Modern is a beautiful, digital magazine from some snazzy Aussies. Subscribe now, the new BOM starts in October!
Here is a closeup of the fabulous quilting by Melanie at Oh Sew Loved Quilting. She does beautiful work!
Another finish this week is a quilt for my new pattern, Sawsall. I designed this quilt for a foundation paper piecing class for the Birds of a Feather machine quilting event. This year, they are expanding into classes outside of longarm quilting. The event is held in February in Newport News, VA. Check it out! Paper piecing is one of my favorite techniques and I love the movement in this quilt.
Speaking of paper piecing, I signed up for a swap on Instagram using paper pieced patterns from Kristy at Quiet Play. While browsing her shop I came across this adorable paper airplane design as a free pattern! It’s so cute, I couldn’t help myself. You can see all of her designs and grab this freebie, too: http://www.craftsy.com/user/381424/pattern-store
I spent my evenings this week wrapping up a few UFO’s that have been hanging around waaayyyy too long. This is a mini quilt from a challenge with my guild (from probably three years ago…). I finally finished it and it’s ready to hang on my wall.
What did you finish this week? Who’s ready to sew for World Wide Sew Day on Sunday? I’m having some friends over to sew the day away – I can’t wait!
Have a great weekend,
